Book Now or Wait??

Book now, book later, will there be last minute deals?? I post quite a few last minute deals, which might make you question if you should book a trip ahead of time or wait.

Here are my thoughts on this... most of the last minute travel deals to Mexico & the Caribbean are due to charter flights not being full.

The big tour operators charter flights to Cancun, Jamaica & Punta Cana (some also do Cabo, Huatalco, Puerto Vallarta, & Ixtapa). What does that mean? It means they pay for every seat on the plane regardless if it sells or not, so when flights are not full they are willing to discount packages to recoup some of the cost.

Not all cities have charter options, in fact not even all big cities have charter options. Chicago has a lot of charter flights as does Cincinnati, Cleveland, Baltimore, Milwaukee, St Louis, & Los Angeles. Some cities have charter flights everyday, some only once a week during peak season. So, the deals tend to be for those cities that have charter flights daily.

During peak travel times, flights book up fast -even the charter flights. So, even if you live in a city with charters you will want to book early for those peak travel times.

If you have your heart set on a particular resort, room category, or if your dates are not very flexible, then you should book early regardless if you are flying from a charter market or not.

If you have questions about when to book, I can help you decide. Booking early or booking last minute- Bright Sand Travel would love to help you plan the perfect vacation. #brightsandtravel
